OSU vs. Penn State – Beaver Stadium – State College, PA – 11/01/2003

Jim, Koz, and Duncan had tickets to this game, so Andrew and I decided we would go along, tailgate with them, scalp if the price was right, or just watch at a bar somewhere. We stayed in Altoona the night before, where we were disgusted to find that you cant find beer after 8PM in Pennsylvania. So basically we just went to bed, but not before Duncan got really mad and almost went home because we were making fun of Dale Earnhardt (RIP)

Gameday couldnt have went smoother. We pull up to our parking spot, and within 3 minutes of us being out of the car, a Buckeye fan comes up and sells Andrew and I a pair of tickets at face value. Game was a yawner, as the Bucks pulled it out by a score of 13-7. Traffic leaving Crappy Valley was the worst. What a primitive town. Also, their stadium looks like it was built out of an erector set.

311 – Jerome Schottenstein Center – Columbus, OH – 10/27/2003

Free concert at OSU. Went with my buddy Phil from the place I was working at the time. Alien Ant Farm was kind of weak, but 311, as always, rocked the joint. Nothing too memorable from this one…

Bengals vs. Browns – Cleveland Browns Stadium – Cleveland, OH – 09/28/2003

Visited this shithole town to see my Bengals, along with Andrew and Jim (both Browns fans) and Duncan (Bengals fan). Bengals ended up winning 21-14, but most of the fun came before the game. I wasn’t scared, so I wore my old Corey Dillon jersey, knowing full well I would be harrassed. Duncan shows up in a plain orange t-shirt. What a pussy. Also, the week leading up to this game, Duncan kept telling Jim and Andrew how he was going to beat up everyone in the Dawg pound. So first thing we did when we got there was walk over to the Dawg Pound where Jim proceeded to scream “HEY DUNCAN, DIDN’T YOU SAY YOU WERE GOING TO BEAT THE DAWG POUNDS ASS?” Duncan got scared so we went up to our seats.

The national title defense began with this 8PM showdown in the shoe. I attended this game with a list of people I can’t remember. That is probably due to the hours of tailgating, drinking, and preventing a Jim-fueled race war from erupting. Bucks roll 28-9.

Reds vs. Rockies – Great American Ballpark – Cincinnati, OH – 07/29/2003

Reds lose this one 5-3 despite some 7th inning heroics courtesy of Barry Larkin. Jimmy Haynes with the loss, goes to 2-11 on the year, what a scrub. Darren Oliver got the win.

The best band ever. Highlight of this show was hearing “Footsteps”, a rare, but awesome B-side. As always, a great show.

Foo Fighters – Promowest Pavilion – Columbus, OH – 05/26/2003

One of the better outdoor shows I have seen, and a great way to spend Memorial day. The opener was Chevelle, who I like, but was dissapointing live. The Foo Fighters rocked the place for a few hours though. Dave Grohl is a fantastic showman, and the rest of his band, namely drummer Taylor Hawkins, is very fun to watch.

Reds vs. Indians – Great American Ballpark – Cincinnati, OH – 03/29/2003

This was an Exhibition game and actually the second game ever to be played in Great American Ballpark (They had one the day before). The Tribe won 3-1. The stadium was impressive, but Scott, Andrew and I left early because it started snowing.

OSU vs. Miami – Sun Devil Stadium – Tempe, AZ – 01/03/2003

Hands down, without a doubt, the best football game I have ever, and probably will ever attend. Traveled to Tempe with Matt, Andrew and Jim, who were fortunate enough to win the ticket lottery at OSU and given a chance to buy tickets at face value. I wasn’t so lucky, and had to pay $565 to a scalper to get into the game. Still the best money I have ever spent. The absence of ushers allowed me to sit with my friends in the student section, a few rows off the field, rather than in my actual seat in the upper corner of the stadium. The game was, of course, a roller coaster ride, but the end was amazing, and there we were. National Champions. Traveling with 3 other guys in a grand prix across the country without stopping was very difficult, but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Truly one of the most significant games I have ever been to, and probably the best game I have ever attended at The Shoe.Capping off a 13-0 regular season by beating our arch rival and earning a trip to the national championship game. I didnt get to rush the field, as I was in the upper deck, but it sure was a beautiful sight. Afterwards, we celebrated for hours, then Jake puked all over the side of my car on 315.
